Access to quality education in the Mara region remains limited, with many schools lacking modern learning tools, digital resources, and exposure to technology. Students often rely on traditional teaching methods, making it difficult to compete in an increasingly digital world. These gaps particularly affect rural learners who deserve equal opportunities to grow, explore, and succeed. To address this challenge, the Lazizi Welfare Foundation is
launching the EdTech for Mara Programme, an initiative designed to bridge the digital divide and enhance learner engagement. LWF has already advanced discussions with EdTech Ltd and Mama Layla Foundation, resulting in the successful acquisition of tablets and digital devices that will support the programme’s rollout.
Beginning January 2026, LWF will introduce a pilot digital classroom at Empoo Primary School, focusing on Grade 3 learners. This pilot aims to enrich learning through interactive digital content, improve literacy and numeracy skills, and prepare young learners for a technology-driven future.Following the outcomes of the pilot, LWF plans to scale the programme across all partner schools, ensuring that more children in the Mara region gain access to digital learning, modern tools, and improved academic opportunities.
