Talek Town recently saw a wave of community action as the Lazizi Welfare Foundation, together with the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Maasai Mara, organized a major cleanup initiative. Residents, staff, and volunteers came together to remove waste from streets, public spaces, and riverbanks, creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.
The cleanup not only improved the town’s appearance but also highlighted the importance
of responsible waste management and environmental stewardship. By engaging local communities and businesses, the initiative fostered collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility for the health of the Talek ecosystem and the Maasai Mara landscape beyond.
From plastic bottles to organic waste, every piece collected contributed to protecting the environment, reducing pollution, and safeguarding the wildlife that relies on a healthy Mara ecosystem. Initiatives like this demonstrate that meaningful change happens when communities and partners unite with a common purpose: a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Talek.
