Advancing learning access and child welfare

Education

Education liberates the intellect, unlocks imagination, and builds the foundation for self-respect.

Impact & Vision

Through education, we empower young minds to imagine, aspire, and lead. Our goal is to nurture lifelong learners who can transform their communities and drive Kenya’s sustainable development. By addressing access, nutrition, technology, and gender equity, the Lazizi Welfare Foundation builds not just schools, but pathways to dignity, opportunity, and hope

Key Challenges

In many rural communities, access to quality education remains limited due to:

  • Insufficient learning resources: Many pupils lack basic materials such as textbooks and workbooks, hindering literacy and academic growth.
  • Difficult commutes and malnutrition: Students often walk several kilometers daily and attend classes on minimal nutrition, affecting concentration and attendance.
  • Cultural barriers: Early marriages and gender-based inequities threaten the education and safety of young girls.

Our Approach & Strategic Initiatives

  • Access & Inclusion: We have adopted Irbaan Primary schoolEmboo Primary School, Nifikie Christian School and Siana Girls’ Secondary School. These partnerships with the different communities strengthens our commitment to improving access to learning through book donations, mentorship programs, and school facility upgrades.
  • Education & Technology: To bridge the digital divide, we are introducing a pilot EdTech program featuring Chromebooks, interactive whiteboards, and localized learning servers. Teachers and students will receive digital training to equip them with essential 21st-century skills for a competitive future.
  • Nutrition & Health: Recognizing the link between nutrition and academic performance, we are establishing modern school kitchen gardens alongside feeding programs. The garden will serve as both a food source and a hands-on agricultural learning lab. We are keen on desalination systems installations to purify local borehole water, thus addressing high fluoride content and improving child health.
  • Safety & Retention: We aim to construct a boarding facility to provide a safe and supportive environment especially for girls vulnerable to early marriage. This facility will offer rest, security, and equal opportunity for all learners to focus on their education.
  • Infrastructure Development: Our long-term vision includes building new classroom blocks, an administrative office, a kitchen, dining hall, and secure fencing. These enhancements will transform our support schools  into model rural educational excellence.
