The Lazizi Welfare Foundation, in partnership with the Water Resource Authority (WRA) and the Morijo community, is leading a long-term initiative to restore the Sand River ecosystem. At the heart of this project is Morijo Springs, a vital water source for both people and wildlife. The restoration plan includes fencing sensitive areas, building a water reservoir, planting indigenous wetland trees, installing a water tank, and constructing animal watering troughs. These efforts aim to stabilize habitats, improve water availability, and support a resilient ecosystem.

A major milestone has been achieved: the community selected the spring to anchor the restoration, and the WRA has completed the critical water flow assessment, paving the way for active rehabilitation. This project represents more than ecological repair ,it is a step toward water security, thriving habitats, and a sustainable future for the Sand River region.
