We implement a rigorous and circular system for water management. Our primary source is a 256-meter deep borehole, providing a reliable supply for our consumption needs. To minimize water wastage, we employ a comprehensive reduction strategy that includes a dedicated grey water treatment plant utilizing our on-site Biolif system. This process repurposes a significant volume of water each month for irrigation of our camp lawns. In addition, all pool water is continuously treated and reused within a closed-loop circular.
We are deeply committed to eliminating waste and creating a genuine circular economy model on site.
Our Farm-to-Plate Initiative is a key component of this. Our on-site farm produces approximately one tonne of fresh harvest per month, which is integrated directly into our menu, ensuring the freshest ingredients while dramatically reducing our food miles and associated carbon emissions.
Finally, we address food waste through our innovative Black Soldier Fly (BSF) plant. This plant converts approximately six tonnes of food waste monthly into valuable resources: organic manure for our farm and animal protein supplements. This process closes the loop on our food cycle, transforming waste into inputs for agriculture, and perfectly replicating a natural, sustainable economic model.
The construction of the Irbaan clinic ensures at least 2,000 people get access to quality first care when unwell. We are set to open the clinic operations tentatively in January, 2026. Once the construction and registration of the clinic is complete. The clinic will offer primary healthcare for a population in a radius of 8KM.
Through a comprehensive public private partnership, we are working out a model waste management facility for Narok County in the neighboring Talek Centre that will see employment of at least 50 youth and women in the waste management jobs and cerate a cleaner, Safer environment for our communities.
JW Marriott also serves as an apprenticeship center for the local communities. The lodge serves as a training ground to entry level community members who over time transition to become fulltime employees of the company based on their performance. This program has been in operation since opening of the lodge.
Our lodge also supports the community to advance initiatives around: community clean up activities, tree planting initiatives, public celebrations held in the neighborhood among other initiatives that arise from time to time.
